MEDIASNIFFER PRO
Privacy, in plain language
MediaSniffer Pro processes media on your own computer. There are no accounts, analytics, or media-processing servers in this build.
Extension storage
Settings and optional download history are stored in Chrome local storage. Detected media and active job snapshots use session storage. Browser download identifiers are retained locally for recovery, without their media URLs. Privacy mode skips new persistent history; existing history can be cleared separately.
Desktop storage
The desktop app stores jobs and history in a local SQLite file. Job records can include original media URLs, titles, chosen tracks, and output paths. Signed media URLs may contain sensitive parameters. Private jobs are held in memory, while partial media must still be written to disk during execution. Completed private files remain at your chosen destination.
Normal history defaults to 30 days. History retention can be changed locally. Downloaded files are never removed by clearing history.
Optional site sessions
Cookie access is optional and initiated by a button in the extension library for a specific HTTPS origin. Approved cookies pass through local Native Messaging to desktop memory for up to 30 minutes. Engine cookie files have restricted permissions and are removed after use; startup cleanup removes leftover cookie files. Restarting the desktop app requires reconnecting the site. Partitioned cookies are not supported in this build.
Network requests
The extension automatically inspects detected manifests. Downloads contact media hosts, child playlists, segments, and encryption-key endpoints where supported. Poster previews may make image requests. Desktop extraction contacts source sites; optional update checks contact the configured release host. Cookies are used only through an approved session context. This website serves release information and files and never receives your media URLs or browser cookies.
Remove your data
Use Clear history in the desktop app or Clear all browser history in extension settings. Uninstalling the extension removes its browser storage. Desktop app data is located under ~/Library/Application Support/MediaSnifferProDesktop on macOS, %APPDATA%/MediaSnifferProDesktop on Windows, and ~/.local/share/MediaSnifferProDesktop on Linux (or XDG_DATA_HOME).
Website hosting
This website is hosted on the project owner's VPS. The web server records standard request metadata, such as IP address, requested website path, time, and user agent, for operation and troubleshooting. Traffic may pass through the owner's migration gateway. No application analytics or tracking scripts are included.
