PROJECT CASE STUDY · DEVELOPMENT CANDIDATE

From browser discovery to a durable download queue.

MediaSniffer Pro combines a Manifest V3 extension with a desktop application. The extension discovers media in a page; the desktop owns advanced downloads and local processing independently of browser tabs.

The problem

Media sources often separate video, audio, and subtitles. Navigation can interrupt page-bound work, formats can expire, and a failed download needs a clear recovery path. The project makes track selection and job ownership explicit.

How it works

Engineering decisions

Jobs declare whether they can resume, restart, or only stop. Publication uses unique filenames to avoid overwriting existing files. Session access is explicit and scoped to approved sites; cookie files are temporary. Standard AES-128 HLS is distinguished from DRM.

Validation and current limits

Automated tests exercise security boundaries, persistent state, HTTP recovery, and controlled media fixtures. Cross-platform installers, browser certification, and a 30-case comparative benchmark remain release gates. No universal compatibility or superiority claim is made.

Release model

The planned public site is mediasniffer.jamshiddev.uz, served from the owner's existing VPS. Versioned artifacts are intended for GitHub Releases. The project is free with optional donations; no account or server-side media service is required.
